Michael A. Allen

I am a PhD Candidate at UC Santa Barbara in Geography. I have 6+ years experience in remote sensing, data science, and in a range of applied sciences. I am passionate about data literacy and data communication -- in particular, making data informative and worthwhile, but above all intuitive. I generally take a minimalist approach to visualization.

I primarily use Python, but I am comfortable with a wide range of software and programming tools. Below is a list of the tools that I like to work with the most.

Python:
- Data i/o and processing: Pandas, NumPy, xarray, Rasterio, GeoPandas, Fiona, GDAL
- Statistics/Learning: SciPy, Scikit-learn
- Visualization: Matplotlib, Seaborn, CartoPy, Folium
R: Tidyverse, SF, SP, RGDAL, Raster, rf, e1071
Proprietary/Other: ENVI, QGIS, ArcGIS, git/github
